Workshop - "Proactive IT Security
HTCIA Asia Pacific Chapter in conjunction with the Hong Kong Computer Society have arranged a hands-on workshop scheduled for the whole day on Saturday 18th October at the HK Productivity Council in Kowloon Tong.
This workshop aims to show in a hands on environment how IT Security personnel can prepare and equip themselves to take on an investigative role and develop incident response plans which include analysis. In addition, with the prevalence of data leakage incidents the workshop will also teach some methodologies to use for analysis of systems to trace the source of leakages or theft of sensitive data.
Attendees will learn:
- Current malware threats and capabilities
- Developing an incident response plan
- Forensic analysis of live systems
- Tracing data leakage sources (tools and techniques)

WiFi and Bluetooth Hacking
The HTCIA Asia Pacific Chapter was proud to welcome some of Hong Kong's leading experts to provide a free hands-on workshop for members only on Saturday 26th July 2008.
Alan Ho, Anthony Lai and Sang Young of PISA all contributed to a fascinating study of the latest threats to WiFi and Bluetooth enabled systems - particularly timely given HK's recent roll-out of free WiFi services in the territory.

USB Devices: The Good, the Bad & the Ugly
Tuesday 24th June 2008 saw an evening presentation by Chapter President, Mr. Paul Jackson at the excellent Microsoft Facilities in Pacific Place III in Admiralty.
The talk focused on the use of USB devices as tools to assist with forensics/incident response. It also covered the use of USB devices as hacking/spy tools.

Half-day Workshop
HTCIA Asia Pacific Chapter is pleased to announce that the half day workshop on WiFi and Bluetooth hacking techniques and investigative approaches will go ahead on the coming Saturday morning, details as follows:
Topic: "WiFi and Bluetooth Hacking & Investigation"
(a) WLAN basis; what is war driving; past war driving report statistics; how to conduct - equipment/tools; demo of NetStumbler & Kismet with hands-on practice
(b) Explaining open & WEP network; threats & countermeasure; bluescanning with hands-on practice
(c) WEP crack; blue-hacking (to mobile phone); basis; threats & countermeasure, etc.
